Dr. Meng-Hsuan (Mark) Tien is an Associate Professor in the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering at National Tsing Hua University. He was granted tenure in February 2025, following his appointment as an Assistant Professor in August 2020. Dr. Tien received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University in May 2020. He earned his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 2011 and his B.S. degree from National Central University in 2009. He currently leads the Laboratory for the Dynamics of Nonlinear Structures & Systems (DyNoS Lab, https://markmhtien.wixsite.com/nsdl).
Dr. Tien’s research focuses on nonlinear dynamics and vibrations, with particular emphasis on the computational modeling and experimental investigation of structural systems. His work has led to the development of innovative computational tools for the analysis and control of high-dimensional systems across a broad range of engineering applications. Key application areas include the modeling and analysis of aerospace structures, system identification of nonlinear systems, vibration control in automation machinery, and the optimization of vibration energy harvesting technologies.
